The World Jewish Congress* is under investigation by the New York State attorney general, Elliot Spitzer. The investigation follows "a series of unusual money transfers of hundreds of thousands of dollars....ordered by Rabbi Israel Singer, the president of the WJC since 1985." This news comes hot on the heels of reports of an investigation into the conduct of senior officers of the Zionist lobby group, AIPAC.
*The Independent. suggests that the WJC "has been responsible for obtaining compensation and restitution for survivors of the Holocaust and has secured millions of dollars in payments from Swiss banks." Norman Finkelstein says that only the second half of that sentence is true.
